Week 68

Hello!!!

This Sunday was a really good Sunday! José was confirmed finally! His health has been improving lately and he can walk normally and dress himself again! So he came to church and was actually already ready and standing outside his house when we showed up to take him to church!

Everton was not baptized :( He cancelled his appointments with us THREE times last week which was really annoying.

However, we had a miracle! We had a lady show up at church last week because she wants to treturn to the church. She was baptized when she was 16 and has like 30-ish now! She has a son who was never baptized because she was baptized when she was still pregnant with him! So when I saw her at church I started talking to her and asking about her and found all this stuff out! We taught him this week and he´s a super awesome kid! His name is Guilherme and he is 13! He was baptized on Sunday and we´ll confirm him this next sunday!

The bed bugs went away after a good cleaning. I've only been bit twice since last week but they might just be mosquito bites. And no, I never found out if they were for sure bed bugs or not.

Everything was in the package and it show up the day I went to Londrina. I went on Wednesday night and had quite the adventure with Elder De Los Santos, one of our Zone Leaders. How often are you going to see an American and an Urugayan getting off a bus at midnight in a big bus station in Brazil, they both speak Portuguese because both of their native languages are others and they are both wearing shirts and ties in the crazy heat? We had to walk to the secretaries house, which is only a few blocks for the rodoviária and luckly Elder De Los Santos knew wheer it was. more or less. The only problem we had when we got there is that it is a apartment complex that you cant enter without a key.....The guy at the door was a cool guy though and let us in and we walked into their house and they had already put some little matresses by the front door so finally at about 1:30 we got to sleep! Everything went fine the nexy day and my visa was renewed and I'm legally allowed to be in the country again! It will expire again on the 24th of October so I know I´ll be home before that!

Well.. I think that is all I have to share for this week! Time sure is flying by! I'll send a bunch of pictures today as well!

Package Mailing Instructions:

DO NOT send anything by: FedEx, DHL, UPS, etc. The mission cannot accept them and your missionary will have to pay, sometimes hundreds of dollars, to get them out of the customs office, often more than the total cost of the items sent.

The best way to send packages to your missionary is to use a PRIORITY MAIL INTERNATIONAL envelope obtained at any U.S. Post Office. The flat rate envelope is about $12.00 for up to 4 obs. Packages arrive in Brazil fairly quickly and safely in about 3-4 weeks. Priority boxes also work well but are more expensive to send.

Please use padded envelopes when sending CDs, thumb drives, or other small items. These items, when placed in a flat envelope, damage postal equipment and can be damaged during transit.

Merchandise: Clothing, food products, and merchandise should be sent direct to the mission office address. However, clothing or other dutiable merchandise often does not reach its intended destination or, if it does arrive, may be subject to customs duties that the missionary will not be prepared to pay. Small packages of nominal value may be sent through the United States Postal Service. Photographs and tapes may be included in these packages. Merchandise sent through a commercial mail carrier is extremely expensive and may be subject to customs duties, but this is the best way to send credit or debit cards.
